There are 4 regions of the US
The breakdown being the West, Midwest, South or Northeast.

Western USA

Western USA features the 13 states of Washington, Oregon, California, Nevada, Idaho, Utah, Arizona, Montana, Wyoming, Colorado, New Mexico, Alaska and Hawaii.
Alaska and Hawaii are also part of the West region of the USA.
The western United States of America is bounded by the Pacific Ocean to the west, Mexico to the south, Canada to the North and the USA Midwest and Southern states across the eastern mainland.
Midwestern USA
Midwestern USA contains the 12 states of North Dakota, South Dakota, Nebraska, Kansas, Minnesota, Iowa, Missouri, Wisconsin, Illinois, Michigan, Indiana and Ohio.
The Mid-Western United States of America do not border any ocean but are bounded by Canada to the north, and the other 3 common subregions (West USA to the west, South USA to the south and Northeast USA to the East.)

Southern USA commonly includes the 17 states of Texas, Oklahoma, Arkansas, Louisiana, Mississippi, Kentucky, Tennessee, Alabama, West Virginia, Virginia, North Carolina, South Carolina, Georgia, Florida, Maryland, Delaware and the District of Columbia.
The Southern region of the United States of America coastline adjoins the Gulf of Mexico in the North Atlantic Ocean, and the 3 other predominant regions of the West, Midwest and Northeast to the north.
Northeast USA
Northeast USA generally includes the 9 states of New York, Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Vermont, Massachusetts, Connecticut, Rhode Island and Maine.
The Northeast Region of the United States of America is bounded by Canada to the north, the midwest region to the west, the South Region and coastline of the Atlantic Ocean to the south.
